No 2 T. Base Camp. Passed by doctor as fit to go up the line. Drill in afternoon. Pay parade, and tea at the Y.M.C.A.
No 2 T. Base Camp. Join musketry class from 9 ‘till 12, rest of day off. Move into L.R.Bs. tent. Trying to rain during day.
No 2 T. Base Camp. Kit inspection in morning, and passed up as fully equipped. A ten minute inspection in afternoon. Y.M.C.A. ‘sing-song’ again in evening.
No 2 T. Base Camp. Draw kit in morning. Do nothing else all day. Water very short, but manage to get a wash and shave each day so far. Neck no better. Y.M.C.A. ‘sing-song’ in evening.
No 2 T. Base Camp. Fatigue at the docks in morning unloading grain ship. On the march down see the first lot of roses in bloom, and also see the first lady tram conductor. Grain ship curious shape. Draw equipment in afternoon. Y.M.C.A. concert.
No 5 General. Return to Base Camp in evening, and go to service at Y.M.C.A.
No 5 General. Get marked out for the base, and about half an hour afterwards everyone else left in the ward is marked down for ‘Blighty’.
No 5 General. Stout issue. Cigarettes issued every other day here (packet of 12 per man).
